After enjoying my last Lindberg build so much I rushed out (to Ebay!) to see if they had any more unusual planes to build. I picked up 2, and here is the first - the German late war Emergency jet fighter Heinkel He-162.
A very basic kit with fuselage and engine combined to make the bulk of the aircraft just two halves to fit together. There was a minimal amount of filling and sanding required

As ever there was a bit of experimentation with the base colours. The first "mid-grey" I used was too light and I'm glad I went back with a darker one from my Coat D'arms WWII range. The biggest wobble was the rear yellow\black rap-around decal - I can never get these to align properly.
And finally a nice documentary on the HE-162:
Good work, Sam. Its amazing what weird and wonderful planes the Luftwaffe rolled out towards the end of the war. Splendid painting. Do you ever take them down from the ceiling and game with your planes at all..?
ReplyDeleteI don't take them down - too much hassle and they're a bit big.
DeleteI did build a few 1/144 scale to play Wings of War ( https://weeblokes.blogspot.com/search/label/Wings%20of%20War ), but a bit of the dreaded "hobby rationalisation " has seen me sell the rule boxes (still got the models in a box though) since my playing parnter at the time stopped gaming.
