A Motley Crew

The last of my Blind Beggar critters: A Hare, Vole, Cat and Mystic Hedgehog.

I really enjoyed painting these 4 individuals up. The look on the hare's face reminded me of Hartley Hare from 1970 kids TV so I copied his fur colour. The cat's fur loosely copies my our cat's (and her pink nose!). They'll make great characters to drop into a squad.

Raging Rabbits

Back to the Critters again, and the set of Critter Commando Rabbits

These sat for a good while due to the old palette indecision, what with their "street" styling of backward cap, sweat top, shorts and high tops with some armour. The most re-done area though in the end was the eyes, as they are wide open on the sculpts. All done now though in a they are how they're sculpted way. The power armoured figure is definitely my favourite though.

Space Bears pt.3

The final duo in my Blind Beggar Sci-Fi bears set

This duo seems to have an Mentor and Junior feel. The smaller bear especially brings to mind those pictures/cartoons you might see of small American boys in the 1950's in their space outfits. The larger was giving old Obi-wan vibes, so I wanted the cloak to be a bit more subdued.

Aping About - pt.1

Nearly titled "Monkeying About" until I realised that none of the figures were monkeys!!

A trio of apes from Blind Beggar - many thanks to Head beggar Paul for dusting off his old storage boxes to try and find any left over stock. He emerged, cobwebs covered, with 5 apes in the end, all from his Dirty Nasty Apes Kickstarter (and a couple of fish like aliens).

I really enjoyed these figures. The chimp just seemed to look like a space chimp to me, hence the all white suit. These figures not only fit into the Critters collection but will also fit for a Judge Dredd Ape Gang.

Commando Raccoons

Up now are the Critter Commando Raccoons. I'd been putting off these for a while as they are both distinctive animals and also a bit unfamiliar to denizens of Scotland such as myself. Thank goodness for the internet image library!! Presumably highlighting their affection to rake through bins, the grenadier seems to have a tin can. I decided to "give Peas a chance"!!

The eye are wee bit tricky, but the crucial "robbers mask" markings have come quite well and I'm happy.

Little and Large

An odd duo for this one - a mouse and a dog.

From a Blind Beggar Kickstarter a few years ago.  I wasn't too keen on the mouse in the raw metal, but with some paint on I really like it. Armed with a machine pistol (probably a "Mouser").

The panel on the chest of the dog reminded me too much of Darth Vader not to give him a predominantly black outfit, with his large power fist. God Vader maybe.

Turtle Squad

Back to Critter Commandos -  this time the Turtle squad

After going big and bold on the squad uniforms the Turtles are a bit different as they are mostly "au natural". Obviously they feel their shells offer enough protection. So out goes the solid colour thoughts for these figures. Apart from the Power armour, which gives a nice tie in with the standard blocking out Critter style whilst still mirroring the turtle colours.

Space Bears pt.1

Away from the Critter Commandos line now, the first couple of Bears from Blind Beggar.

The Ratzi Menace

Continuing on from my "Animal Testing" post a wee while ago I've completed the first faction box - The Ratzis.

Animal Testing

So I find myself almost completing a project within my self set (casual) schedule. So obviously I get distracted into starting another project before completion!

I can feel a little less guilty though, as I've been collecting parts of this project for many years without any actual progress other than random purchases.

After first seeing them an age ago, I've been slowing picking up anthropomorphic Sci-Fi figures. It started with the Critter Commandos line and, still using this as a base reference, have managed to add a few other figures\manufacturers into the collection box. I've never actually started painting any of them though.

Until this week...
