The Entire Frog Army

The entirety of my Frog Critters are now painted. A mass of Frogs is apparently called an Army, how fitting!

This also sees the complete of my Critters "Phase 1" (because there is always an opportunity for another phase!) that I properly started at the beginning of this year. These have been sitting in a box for years so it's great to see them all painted.

Now it's time to move on to Human testing, or actually playing them in a game as it's better known!

An Unexpected Duo

Two figures that came out of left field (sort of)

The Duck Ninja was stumbled upon whilst I was at Tabletop Scotland the other weekend, courtesy of Warbase's Standard Miniatures line. Whilst Ninjas themselves are not Sci-Fi everone knows that they are timeless and can easily hold there own in any timeline, so he's in.

The dog was already in my collection, hiding away in the painted Sci-Fi drawer, I'd just forgotten I had him. I'd bought him in a job lot a few years ago but he is available from Hasslefree Miniatures

Massed Ratzis

It's been a bit quiet here as I've been ploughing through the remaining Ratzi figures.

With them all done they'll make a perfect adversary force for those solo games where there's a bit of "fog of war" like Two Hour Wargames PEF system.

I've a similar amount of Frogs to "soldier" though still to do....

Duck Tales pt.1 - AI edition

Something a bit left field - some Terminator style ducklings.

One of the things about being old is that you forget about things you've bought and hoarded away years previously - these being a good point in case. Back in the murky days of the past, when Ebay was just an auction site filled with normal folk and not companies, I picked up some rather random figures.

These are part of a small line of Sci-Fi ducks or ducklings. They only stand about 15mm tall so I'm labelling them as ducklings for the sake of my Critters project. I'm pretty sure the seller was also the sculptor but other than that I have no other details. I have a couple of sets of the fleshed infantry as well which are currently being bathed in IPA for a repaint.

If anyone recognises these I'd be very grateful for some extra details...

A Motley Crew

The last of my Blind Beggar critters: A Hare, Vole, Cat and Mystic Hedgehog.

I really enjoyed painting these 4 individuals up. The look on the hare's face reminded me of Hartley Hare from 1970 kids TV so I copied his fur colour. The cat's fur loosely copies my our cat's (and her pink nose!). They'll make great characters to drop into a squad.

Raging Rabbits

Back to the Critters again, and the set of Critter Commando Rabbits

These sat for a good while due to the old palette indecision, what with their "street" styling of backward cap, sweat top, shorts and high tops with some armour. The most re-done area though in the end was the eyes, as they are wide open on the sculpts. All done now though in a they are how they're sculpted way. The power armoured figure is definitely my favourite though.

15mm - First Pinewood Creek Denizens

I've had this selection painted for a while in preparation of project progress, but now that I've buildings finished I set about changing the base colours and here they are!

Blue Moon Aquans

With so many ongoing projects I needed one that was just do and finish, so my pack of Blue Moon Manufacturing Aquans finally go some paint. These are probably my favourite sculpts of the Blue Moon 15mm Sci-Fi range and it's good to get them into a playable state.

Space Bears pt.3

The final duo in my Blind Beggar Sci-Fi bears set

This duo seems to have an Mentor and Junior feel. The smaller bear especially brings to mind those pictures/cartoons you might see of small American boys in the 1950's in their space outfits. The larger was giving old Obi-wan vibes, so I wanted the cloak to be a bit more subdued.

Isengard Reinforcements

This is more a catch up post now I've some photography space set - these were actually painted at the start of the year.

After the fiddly elves I thought I'd go for something a bit swift and easy, so quick painted a group of Mordor Orcs and Trolls for my (slow grow) Isangard army.

Aping About - pt.1

Nearly titled "Monkeying About" until I realised that none of the figures were monkeys!!

A trio of apes from Blind Beggar - many thanks to Head beggar Paul for dusting off his old storage boxes to try and find any left over stock. He emerged, cobwebs covered, with 5 apes in the end, all from his Dirty Nasty Apes Kickstarter (and a couple of fish like aliens).

I really enjoyed these figures. The chimp just seemed to look like a space chimp to me, hence the all white suit. These figures not only fit into the Critters collection but will also fit for a Judge Dredd Ape Gang.

Commando Raccoons

Up now are the Critter Commando Raccoons. I'd been putting off these for a while as they are both distinctive animals and also a bit unfamiliar to denizens of Scotland such as myself. Thank goodness for the internet image library!! Presumably highlighting their affection to rake through bins, the grenadier seems to have a tin can. I decided to "give Peas a chance"!!

The eye are wee bit tricky, but the crucial "robbers mask" markings have come quite well and I'm happy.
