Setup: As rolled, the Scenario had the two warbands looking to collect bounty on the heads of a head Vampire and his 3 turned minions. They are protected by glamoured townsfolk (3 townsfolk each). Victory points are gained for killing the minions or wounding the head vampire but lost for killing the innocent townfolk.

The warbands enter from opposite ends of the table, with the Vampires in the centre of the square, surrounded by their protectors.

The dwarves set off, advancing through and around the town tollbooth
,
The Barbarians came up the main street into the square. On the Vampire turn the majority of the enemy headed towards the Barbarian force - possibly something to do with having a 7 foot fire elemental on a night raid?

As the lone enemy group approached the dwarves Cerri Crackshot in advance tried to slow their advance.

One of the townsfolk went to ground and Cerri retreated to the main fold as they moved to enter the square.
As on downed towny regained his feet, the remainder moved in to meet the dwarven force in the archway, blocking their advance.

At the other end of the square two lesser Vampire minions and their retinue had reached the barbarians.

The main Vampire had moved to the side of all the action, obviously looking to his minions as buffers.

Meanwhile in the Tollbooth archway a tough toe-to-toe battle was ensuing.

The Barbarians were on the back foot, still looking to get themselves organised as they wish even under the attacks. Elderly Cohan was knocked to the ground, and was probably fortunate he didn't break a hip on the hard cobbles.

With the flanking section of Dwarves emerging from round the side of the building, Valgen's force was starting to make some headway, with the minion being knocked down and one of her protectors being killed.

The tide was beginning to turn at the other side of the square, with the barbarian brawn starting to break down the wall of enemy.

Another round and the numbers were withering and a cheer went up and the first Minion went down.

The noise coming out of the dark noise encouraged the dwarves and they attacked with new vigour. As Townsman went to the sword, another went down and as did the vampiric minion, but unfortunately no-one was close enough to finish her off before she regained her feet.

The barrier in front of the main street entrance was broken, with a townsman being gruesomely killed (causing some panic) and the second minion being slain.

With dawn soon approaching there was not much time to try and get to the main vampire before he fled. Aldaric pushed forward the elementals, with some covering fire from Erwig.
The final battles were raging. There were still too many undead powers still about.

Just as the faint glow of the new day were threatening, the Vampire and glamoured mob showed they were not to be dismissed and extinguished the Fire Elemental. And with that final action the Vampire and Minion vanished in a cloud of acrid smoke.

Battle Outcome:
  • Dwarves Killed 2 townsfolk = -2 VP
  • Barbarians killed 2 Vampire Minions for 2 VP but killed 4 townsfolk for -4 VP

A Draw
