Now that the
Woodelves have finally galloped into the woods I can move forward on my projects. First up was Tweedy Mattison from Crooked Dice. Despite sometrouble with the face (still too out of practice!) I'm pretty happy from the gaming standard "arm's length" range. Especially as it's my first attempt at painting a tweed effect jacket!
tweed looks fantastic mate, subdued but visible - great stuff!!
ReplyDeletequick rundown of how you achieved?
No set colours, just as long as they have a natural look to them. A base of Miniature Paints Earth Brown, Sepia wash and Earth Brown Highlight, then thin watered down lines of M.P. Umber brown in a rough check and a few watered down lines of M.P. Plum Red. Finished with a very watered sepia wash to bring it all back together. I have an issue of Wargames Illustrated where there was a great article on painting nearly any type of clothing material and used that as a guide (typically didn't have Tweed!)
DeleteTartan/tweed, you're abrave man with a steady hand
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. I nearly left off the tweed effect but looking at pictures felt I had to! My hand isn't that steady, btw, that's why the photo's are extreme close-up :)
