Fat Dragon Modern Buildings

During my Hobby Shed tidy-up I had call to check out my box of card stock modern\near future buildings (free from Germy and still recommended ). They haven't had a lot of use recently but were looking much the worse for wear all the same (especially as these were the first card stock builds I made - a bit of a cowboy job, even for me!).So I've been casually looking around for replacements (especially since Zomtober).

Several companies to card stock modern buildings, but Fat Dragon Games advertise their buildings as being fold flat and as they have a sale on until the end of December I jumped in now with a purchase of the base city set and the first expansion.

Here are a couple of the basic builds for you to see.

The main building construction is very basic 4 walls with tabs on the bottom to glue to a chosen base (if you don't want to fold flat). The roof is constructed as a sort of hat which fits over the outside of the walls. The included instructions say to add a tab across the the top if you intend on doing the folding flat design (which I do). I had thought that I would need to strength the walls, especially on the 3 story block (I'm using 210gsm card) but the tabs top and bottom sit perpendicular to the walls themselves and really add rigidity to the structure once the rood segment is on.

Quickly put on the table you can see their size. A fairly impressive height and table filler. The doors might seem a little large, but that may be the optical sense with the shop as it has a glass section above the door. The apartment block doors are not high and probably give a better indication.

And once folded "flat" (the roofs don't go fully flat). I can see myself doing a few more of these and then using a could of the more elaborated designs to use with interiors. The extension kit multistory has the nice addition of fire escapes, which would be fun!
