The two warbands come across a travelling caravan that has been ambushed by a band of Ogres. The guards are valiantly defending their rich merchant boss, but it's only a matter of time before they succumb to the bludgeoning force of their attackers. Can one of the warbands rescue the merchant?

The First Law wasted no time. The ogres were concentrating on disposing of the guards first, so Bayaz made the order to charge in.
Galan was a bit more cautious. The numbers he had let him hang back to get into a variety of approach directions.
First Law had first success, as Black Dow knocked down an ogre.
The elves, feeling outdone, engaged. But Ailuin misjudged his mounted advantage against a downed ogre and was knocked to the floor.
First kill and Victory points as Black Dow follows up and slays an ogre.
Curnden Craw then take the oppotunity to rush round the melee and take the floored Ailuin out of the battle, increasing the human lead.
But it wasn't all going their way. Red Hat couldn't avoid an ogre hammer blow was was to play not further part in the fight.
The elves re-organised themselves and swarmed round Curnden, before Lavathor sent in his new eagle charge, Soar, to swoop down and finish the impudent human.
The merchant's guards were now getting a bit thin on the ground. The ogres would soon be concentrating on the arrived foes.
As another ogre went down to human sword, Thonor the dryad froze an ogre in its tracks.
Only for Black Dow to nip in a slay the beast. More points to Bayaz's crew, as the final turn approached.
Desperately, Gresal charged Logan and slew him, catching up a bit of ground.
The scored were neck and neck. Bayaz raced in to secure a win, but could only knock an out-numbered orge to the ground. This time it was Rusgon's chance to take advantage. He made no mistake and finally an Ogre went down to elven steel.
Poor Bayaz suddenly found not only his prize stolen, but he was surrounded by foes. Galan moved in to finish the situation, taking Bayaz out.
Battle Outcome: First Law: 6VP, Guardians 10VP
A Guardian Win
So does the merchant have some sort of reward for the Guardians for protecting him from the ogres (and First Law)?
ReplyDeleteIt'll be in the battle aftermath on the campaign page (when I catch up yo myself) but I can exclusively reveal that in the end all they received was "his gratitude"! Pfft, greedy humans!
DeleteNice batrep dude! Go guardians.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Bob. They do have the advantage of numbers for the last couple of meetings.
DeletePoor First Law! I was hoping they could pull it off this time. Excellent battle report.
ReplyDeleteThey very nearly did. It really was a last turn push by the elves that overtook their points tally.
