Nostalgia Hit

If there are two games to take me back, Heroscape is one but the biggy has got to be RISK.

Mark the calendar, as it was Arabiansquire's first ever game this afternoon (and my first game for around 21 years!).

  1. Didn't we all start with Risk? A great game, which feels a bit limited the more you play it and thus we expand into the increasingly more complicated world of wargaming. A fine game for an afternoon though.

  2. I was fancying a gmae of something that didn't need endless explaining. This isn;'t the latest release, but it was nice to see some updates from my old childhood copy. Formalising neutral countries in the 2 player games was good, although next time we'll have less neutrals as it really boxed us in. It was also good to see a Missions mode for the normal 3-6 player games to save on the long slogging war of dice rolling attrition that the full World Conquest game can become. Was asked the following morning if we could have another game later in the week, so must have been fun!

  3. The original advert that also got me hooked. Remember sending for the GW mailing list from the details on the box!

    1. A slippery slope you went down. I still remember looking at your enthusiastically painted Epic scale Space Marine units set out. Ork Gargants and all!

  4. I knew that game inside out, played it at the club for ages. There was a guy who had an enormous Squat army who always won with his Land Train... good game at the time.

    1. I presume we're still talikng Space Marine here? ;) Although an Epic scale Squat army would certainly fit on a Risk board.

    2. Hmm in fact I'm almost suprised we've not seen a 40k Risk set by now!

  5. Yes, still Space Marine. meant to comment on your reply rather than "up a level".
