I can feel a little less guilty though, as I've been collecting parts of this project for many years without any actual progress other than random purchases.
After first seeing them an age ago, I've been slowing picking up anthropomorphic Sci-Fi figures. It started with the Critter Commandos line and, still using this as a base reference, have managed to add a few other figures\manufacturers into the collection box. I've never actually started painting any of them though.
Until this week...
The two factions I have most of are the Frog and Ratzi's. So I dug an example of each out to do a test scheme to go forward with.
With the characters in question obviously being very cartoony I wanted to try and paint ion quite blocked out colours, which I think I've managed. Also turns out to be quite quick as well, so happy days.
First out the Ratzi scheme is heavy based on my WWII Wehrmacht paints, so is pretty muted.
As I use these posts for future scheme paint reference, this is more for me than anyone else.
- After priming (grey in this case) the whole uniform is painted Deep Bronze green
- Knee\elbow\shoulder pads are painted Black Green
- Helmet & legs\arms\torso are Army Green, trying to leave some darker recess
- Back of legs, inner elbow, etc are Uniform Grey
- Dark tone all over and then go over with the main colours again - nice an solid. I didn't bother going over the Uniform Grey area again.
- Left shoulder is base covered Plum red then bright red
- emblem is just a white circle with a black X
- After priming grey, all armour is plum red
- knees\shoulders\elbows are bright red
- legs\arms\torso molten lava orange
- Sepia Wash all over
- block in main colours again
- again skin colours will change from model to model for interest and variety.
